D A Oldfield Ltd offer a service to refurbish old worn out shafts of all sizes.
The process firstly involves grinding the shaft right back, this removes all wear marks and unevenness. Next, we apply a hardened chrome, this will increase the full shafts diameter by about 0.03 inches.
Finally, we re-grind and shape the shaft back to the standard size leaving a new layer of 0.012inch thickness of hardened chrome.
Utilisation of the chroming process provides a number of benefits over simply making a new shaft each time:
